ooc: this post is serving as an ic inbox for both his usernames (Malachor & chirq), though at this time they should be considered separate entities. this will be updated as necessary
[ after attempting to socialize — somewhat, what counts as socializing for a jakku-raised desert scavenger — on the network, rey finds herself seeking out one of her initial contacts.
besides poe, it's comforting to speak to someone from her own realm of existence, even if they're from a planet she's only superficially familiar with. and whomever this person is, they should be at the very least warned about kylo ren's presence on this planet. ]
i hope you don't mind my contacting you.
did you make it down to the planet from the station's transport? i recall you mentioning you wanted to see it.
I did, albeit briefly. The natives' way of life is as strange as the world being so pleasant. I'll have to adjust to this sort of climate. What are your thoughts on it, if you've been?
so far it's primitive, in my opinion; even on jakku we had tech of some sort. i don't know if you're living in the starter dormitories, but they're very cramped and crowded and noisy. there's barely any privacy to be found. [ that in itself has been a harsh change in reality, for her. ]
there's not a lot of wealth here but there is currency moving around, in the theater and red light districts specifically. seems as though the natha want us to keep ourselves entertained in any way we see fit.
i'm doing as well as can be expected, after learning of the destruction of so many worlds. did you leave anyone behind on malachor? did some of them arrive with you in the stasis pods?
I thought so as well. It begs to question how we are supposed to successfully integrate while still possessing the technology that we have. Hide it all you want, sooner or later one of the natives are doing to see something they shouldn't.
I could go for somewhere quieter too, but fortunately for me I no longer have a roommate. In regard to the Natha, you can look at it two ways. Either they genuinely want us to stay entertained, or they want us distracted.
I had a mentor, but it seems as though people I knew did not make it here. I suppose that isn't a surprise, considering how large the galaxy is. Is anyone you know here? It would help with the transition, if so.
[ she makes a mental note to ask him about why their hosts might want them distracted, when they're supposed to be focused on revitalizing the planet. that question can wait until later, however. ]
i'm sorry you lost those you knew. [ she thinks on how awful it would have been, had she not known that finn and master luke and general organa and the others were in stasis. ]
there's one here with me who was part of the resistance. a pilot; a rather famous one. poe dameron, have you heard of him? he's apparently one of the best, according to the general.
and there are a couple of others here you should know about. both of them are force-users. have you encountered anyone fitting that description, here?
[Meanwhile, Ren is making a mental note of his own about this. Somehow he's not surprised that Dameron is. He might be outnumbered, but if it comes to it, he's certain he can handle both of them easily.]
I'm afraid I have not heard of him. What specifically is this group resisting?
I haven't encountered any force-sensitives since I've been here. I should amend that to say 'that I know of.' I don't have a way of being able to tell.
[ she supposes it's not that far-fetched that if he hasn't heard of the fate of hosnian prime and the other planets in that system, that he might not know of the resistance either. ]
they're resisting an organization called the first order, which is the group responsible for the destruction of the hosnian system i told you about. they had developed a mobile superweapon called the 'starkiller'.
[ best to warn them. ] and a force-user from that organization is here, on el nysa with us. his name is kylo ren.
i know it's called 'violet2710'. the rumor among those who were there was that it was some sort of purple-colored gaseous cloud released into the air. there's been no quarantine, surprisingly, but it doesn't seem easily spread; i've heard it's with bodily secretions.
did you hear the recording of the terrorist's confession? there was a mention of weapons coming from wyver into olympia in some sort of carriage.
Word of this hasn't reached Malachor at all, not even whispers. The last thing I ever heard about anything was something about a chancellor consolidating his power on one of the Core Worlds. Details beyond that hadn't even reached, though I suspect it must have happened at least a month beforehand.
What would you have me do if I encounter this person?
I heard the recording, but hadn't heard anything about the illness spread. Does that include sweat? Steering clear of anyone infected might be the best course of action.
The recording troubles me the more I think about it. I can't decide if they were a bad spy, unfit to endure any sort of interrogation, or if the information shared was exactly what they wanted us to know.
[ not even whispers - incredible. she's not familiar with any reports of a chancellor on any of the core worlds, but if they're not versed with any recent events, it likely occurred long ago. ]
if you encounter him, please don't confront him. he's powerful and prone to lashing out in anger, and he has no qualms about killing anyone.
[ even as she says it, she knows it isn't entirely the truth; he never lashed out in anger with her during her interrogation, even when she bested him and broke into his head, spilling his secrets like ripe fruit. ] i fear for your safety. if you see him, keep your distance and just observe him from afar. report to me what he does, if you can.
[ the recording troubles her for exactly the same reasons. ]
if it were the latter, what if the confession was meant to throw us off of the true source of the weapon?
in that vein, what do you know about the simwe institute? i overheard some of the locals having an interesting conversation the other day about what they do, there.
It would make more sense if that were the case. Spread as much confusion and misdirection as possible, and it would give them more of an opening to further their goals.
They could essentially slip through undetected, hypothetically, if everyone is distracted and following false leads.
Something about research, but I don't know anything specific. I have been following leads pertaining to individuals.
it would only make more sense if the goals of the city's governing body involved making as many people as ill as possible.
i don't want to believe that, but the person i overheard spoke of the institute working on some sort of perfume commission. an aerosol, like the weapon detonated.

and no, i'm not injured.
[ strange, this feeling of having others looking after her — first finn, then poe, and now a stranger whose face she hasn't even seen. she likes it. ]
thank you, for asking.

just making her all warm & fuzzy, ren.
